Our Story

Erin Quinn and Tom Slane share a love for differently-abled people. Tom has an adult son with Down Syndrome. Erin is an intervention specialist at an area high school.  When the pandemic hit in March 2020 we were looking to find a way for differently-abled people to learn, have fun together safely, and in person.  We decided to focus on Art.  Art provides gratification, healing and self expression, especially for those who may not be able to find the words they need to express emotions. The first By the Barn Summer Enrichment Program was born.

What We Do

Our mission is to provide a destination for differently abled people to leave the hustle and bustle of every day life, with opportunities for them to develop skills, unleash their creativity, make a difference and give back.   We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
